Dispatcher
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate radio, telephone, or computer equipment at
emergency response centers. Receive reports from the public of crimes,
disturbances, fires, and medical or police emergencies. Relay information to
law enforcement and emergency response personnel. May maintain contact with
caller until responders arrive.
Salary: $37,460+
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum 6 months
dispatch experience and preferably a certified EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P, EMD or
related medical experience and terminology.
Reflection:
I would not like to be an ambulance dispatcher
simply because I don’t like to talk on the phone because I’d rather be out there,
than sitting at a desk and receiving calls to send someone to rescue them. Plus
it’s hard to talk o the phone because maybe it’s their final words of the
caller because their dying and you’re the only one who can hear them.
